Leadership Team
Oakland Baptist Church is led by Pastor Don Hayes with the assistance of Elders, Deacons, Deaconess and Trustees. Combined, this team ensures the Ministry of Christ goes forth and the various needs of His people are taken care of.
Deacons
Deacons serve as one of the official officers of the Church. They are men who were identified, found qualified, were examined and subsequently ordained in accordance with the book of Acts 6, and 1 Timothy 3. Their primary role is to support the Pastor as the leader of the church in furthering the ministry of Christ, and to provide for the needs of the His people. They are also responsible for assisting the Pastor in carrying out the ordinances of the Church which are Baptism and serving the Lords Supper.
In their role Deacons are to reflect the type of servant characteristics exhibited by Christ to inspire others to emulate Him. At Oakland Deacons serve in various capacities and ensure that the church’s ministries meet the spiritual, physical, emotional, mental, vocational and financial needs of the congregants. They also oversee the church’s fiduciary duties in concert with the Trustees. Ultimately their work allows the Pastor to focus on the Word of God to be delivered to His people.

Deaconess
The Deaconess Ministry is comprised of a group of women with a mission to serve the Oakland Baptist Church by assisting the Pastor and Deacons in developing the spiritual growth of the congregation and community, particularly women and seniors.
Deaconesses are committed to worshipping God through witnessing and sharing the good news, serving as ministry coordinators, preparing for baptismal and communion services, fulfilling other responsibilities and by being good examples of Christian living for all.

Trustees
The Trustees are a group of members skilled in various capacities to include church operations, financial contract and facility management, engineering, audio visual, information technology and administration. They employ their various skills to manage the material possessions and oversee the financial matters of the church. This includes responsibility for the physical property, financial obligations, vendor contracts, OBC facilities and cemetery maintenance. The Trustees’ stewardship enables the Pastor and ministerial staff to execute God’s mission of sharing the Gospel and making disciples.
The Trustees’ work as a team in fulfilling their responsibility and are led by scriptures and guiding principles. Like other leadership staff, Trustees have a love for the Lord and the church body, and are therefore sensitive to its needs. They endeavor to administer their responsibilities in a manner that ensures a robust and fruitful worship environment.
